The Royal Mint has been authorised by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency to strike a limited number of Proof Coin Collections.

Each of the coins in the set share a common obverse design which depicts the Saudi Arabian ‘Coat of Arms’, two swords and a palm tree. Above the ‘Coat of Arms’ is the inscription in Arabic “King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud” and below “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques”.

The centre of the reverse designs features the value of each coin in Arabic, with the numerical equivalent either side in both Arabic and English. At the top of the coin the denomination appears again, this time in words and written in Arabic. The year of minting, 1408 Hijra, is shown at the bottom of each coin.

Only 5,000 of these Proof Coin Collections have been struck for worldwide distribution. It is advisable to avoid handling the coins as fingerprints and marks may spoil the delicate Proof finish.
