Product Details

A copper Mahmudi coin (weighing 15.58g) struck in Makkah around AH 1221. The coin bears only the mint city name and date, though the date is weakly visible and most likely reads 1221 AH. Considerable corrosion appears on both sides, and the piece is graded as “Fine.”
These coins were likely struck between AH 1219 and 1222, possibly by Muslim craftsmen from India who came to Arabia to produce them. The coin’s heavy weight and appearance closely resemble the contemporary copper paisas of western India.
