This Half-Qirsh was struck at the Umm al-Qura Mint in Makkah in AH 1343 (AD 1924–1925), shortly after King Abdulaziz entered Makkah and before the proclamation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is regarded as one of the earliest coins bearing the name Hejaz & Nejd, placing it among the important transitional issues in Saudi numismatic history.
The coin is struck in silvered bronze, measuring 22 mm in diameter and weighing 4.13 g, with a die axis of 1h. The silver coating gave the coin an appearance similar to that of a silver issue while retaining the durability and lower production cost of a bronze core.
