An anonymous silver larin, commonly known as “Hairpin Money,” struck in the traditional bent-wire form that circulated extensively throughout the Arabian Gulf, Persia, India, and the Indian Ocean trade routes. Larins were widely used in maritime commerce from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries and are among the most distinctive forms of historical trade currency.
